Have you ever been going on with your day, at work or elsewhere, and all of a sudden this wave of overwhelm and gratitude washes over you?

In that particular moment, you are insanely happy to be where you are in that world.

You then start to notice everything around you and find the special magic that is their presence in your life.

For me, that is often in the little things I have surrounding my life. Rarely are they the big things but they can certainly be in some moments (travel, celebrations, holidays, etc).

Those little moments that remind you of a life outside of your current stressors.

Going against the gain, Spring is my favorite season. It’s the moment when leaves start sprouting in the barren trees from winter that fills my heart with warmth.

In the early morning moments with a freshly brewed cup of coffee, I sit in my chair in my little hyggekrog corner of my living room and take in the scene outside my window.

It will be like only yesterday the trees had no leaves on them and then BAM! they are full and green.

A new life is born and I’m sitting there witnessing nature take its course, it’s comforting to me.

Have you ever just walked down the street on a mundane day to have the sun shine through the clouds and come down on you?

The warmth filling you up, a smile spreads across your face, it’s a nice moment and you realize you’re living an extraordinary life.

–> The aromatic smell from the candle on your coffee table.
–> Pictures of friends and family on your walls reminding you of all the love that surrounds you.
–> Trinkets filling up shelves and wall spaces you’ve picked up on your travels taking you back in time only to experience it all again.
–> The fan memorabilia on your walls that would make your younger self happy to see the adult you taking time to bring fun and youthful joy into your life.
–> A freshly made bed that welcomes you home at the end of the night.
–> Holiday decorations that bring into your life the promise of wonder and gratitude.

These little moments/things/memories that fill your life are what fuels your life.

There have been times that I spent a full year living in a place but didn’t take the time to really unpack or decorate, knowing I was leaving after just a year. When it was time to allow new tenants to view the space, I finally went out and bought flowers, decorated a bit, and realized the untapped potential I had missed out on experiencing in that place.

The changes I had made were small but had a great effect on my attitude and perspective of the place. If only I was aware of that when I moved in, I could have had a much better time living there.

It’s the difference between putting away your laundry right away and having it stay folded up in a corner of your room for weeks until you have to wash it again.

The difference of unpacking immediately when you get to your destination even though your stay is short and you’ll have to pack it all up again soon. You’ve settled in and are ready to just enjoy your time in a clean and clear space.

The last two might seem like tedious tasks but I can speak from experience on both sides. The benefits of the tedious task greatly outweigh the nuance of the task itself.

It’s a little thing you can do that has a great effect on your experience in the world.

Put up those pictures! Buy those flowers! Unpack those bags & put away your laundry!

Live your life fully to experience those moments of pure bliss and joy.
